R.K. Instruments & Controls supplies this UV Flame Sensor, an ultraviolet (UV) flame phototube scanner / optical flame detector probe used for flame monitoring and safeguard on industrial gas, light oil and dual-fuel burners and gas-train combustion systems. The sensing element is a gas-filled UV phototube (UVtron-type sensor), visible through a side-viewing quartz window, giving a radial optical field of view suited to side-mounted sight-tube installation. The housing is a stainless steel / aluminium-alloy cylindrical body with an integrated mounting flange, knurled locking collar and threaded gland fitting for secure burner sight-tube mounting. Cable connection is via a 2-core heat-resistant shielded industrial cable with a sealed rear cable-gland entry, terminating in pre-stripped 2-wire leads (Red/Black). Spectral sensitivity spans 190nm to 290nm — the solar-blind UV spectrum — so the sensor responds to genuine flame UV emission while remaining unaffected by daylight or hot refractory glow, preventing false flame signals. Ambient operating temperature range is -20°C to +70°C, standard industrial rating, suited to continuous flame-safeguard duty across gas, oil and dual-fuel burner installations.
